Mary's Story...
I first became acquainted with Burke and Herbert Bank when I became a Realtor in 1987. The market at that time was slow and it was taking longer than I thought to get established in the industry. In the meantime, of course, I needed money to live on. A friend of mine introduced me to Taylor Burke, III. That was a very fortunate day. Burke and Herbert Bank lent me some money secured by my investment properties and I was able to get established with their help. I have said many times "I wouldn't be in Real Estate today if it weren't for Burke and Herbert Bank." They took a chance on me and I will be eternally grateful to our home town bank and to Taylor Burke III.

Randy's Story...
My parents started banking with Burke & Herbert in 1955 and that was the only bank I grew up knowing. So I opened my first bank account with B&H in 1969 (with my mom's help) when I was 12 years old. I used the account to save money from my paper route and raking leaves so I could buy my first 10 speed bike. I am now age 50 and have never ventured away from B&H. I have also moved out of the immediate area but refuse to stop banking with what I consider the Best Bank in America! I've heard many horror stories about other banks, but I have none to tell about B&H. They have always been very friendly and professional.
"What's the name of your bank this week?"... Mine is STILL Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust Co.

Roger's story...
When I started my company in 1981, I rented offices on South Fairfax Street and was treated to a beautiful view of one of Alexandria's historical landmarks--the Burke and Herbert Bank. Stopping in the bank to deposit checks became a most pleasant morning ritual. One afternoon in 1991, my wife and I walked across the street to meet with Taylor Burke, Jr. about a business loan. Prepared to give a detailed explanation of our plans, I was surprised when after a few minutes into our conversation, Taylor said, "Okay, sounds good to me," and that was that. We walked out quiet pleased that it was so effortless to get money!
Several nights later, we were enjoying a glass of wine while watching Dennis Miller on Saturday Night Live. Lo and behold, Miller shows a picture from the New York Times of Taylor with his parrot, Harvie, on his shoulder, testifying before the U.S. House Banking Committee. Miller looks at the picture and then smirks at the camera, asking the audience, "Would you trust this man with your money?" We laughed and said "Well, yes, we would and we do!" And then we gave a toast to Taylor, because better yet, he trusted us with his money!

Rachel's story...
I am a second generation of bankers through Burke and Herbert Bank. I have fond memories as a child filled with lollypops and an at home feeling walking through the door where people knew your name and asked how the family was.
Now as I begin my family, I'm looking forward to taking our young one through the lobby of Burke and Herbert, so he can taste a life that once was.
My favorite Burke and Herbert story goes like this. I was in my 20's something's trying to buy a car. I didn't have much, if any to put down and Burke and Herbert was ready to finance the whole thing, within reason of course. I searched ads and internet postings for weeks. Each time I'd find a deal, the wonderful Branch Manager Jean Michelle would call me right away, "we can finance this much, and you will need to come up with this much". After weeks of hunting, my dream came true! It was perfect, a 1997 Honda Civic and the asking price was so reasonable, I had money left over.
Everyday, everyone was so wonderful to me and patient. I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for Burke and Herbert looking out for me. I paid off the loan early and have a fantastic credit report to show for it.
They won my loyalty as a child, and they will have it for the years to come.
Thanks for being part of my family and for the generations to come.
Fondly,
Customer Rachel Pellegrino
PS, I still have the Honda although we are out growing it. We are ready
to purchase something a little bigger . . . there is no question where
we will go for our financing.
Christopher's story...
My grandfather, Edwin C. Brown, Sr., came to the Washington DC area back in the early 1930's, from Kansas where he grew up on an indian reservation. He came to the DC area, put himself through undergrad and lawschool at Howard Univ in DC, then began practicing law in Northern Virginia in 1941, where he was one of he few African-American lawyers leading the NAACP's efforts to desegregate NoVa's public schools. The original door to his law library when his office opened in 1941 is in our office today. He banked with Burke & Herbert. My father, Edwin C. Brown, Jr., followed in my grandfathers footsteps, attending undergrad and laws school at Howard Univ. After serving in the DC US Atty's office, he joined my grandfather's practice, which was in Old Town Alexandria on North Fayette St. They continued to bank with Burke & Herbert. I was fortunate to follow in my their footsteps, attending Duke Univ on a football scholarship, then attended the Georgetown Law Center in DC. I joined my father's practice in 1997. My grandfather passed in 1999. Our offices are now on Franconia Road. However, my father always insisted, as he stated my grandfather had, that we maintain our firm account with Burke & Herbert, which is where I continue to hold my personal account as well as the firm account. The personal service, the ability to call and get someone on the phone, the ability to visit our local branch and have the staff remember you and respond to your needs efficiently and without making you jump through a lot of hoops, has been the selling point for me.

Erica's story...
What started out as a bleak day for me in January 2008 was turned around by Mohammad Shatnawi, customer service representative at Burke & Herbert's Telegraph Road branch. His going the extra mile will certainly keep me a loyal customer.
On this particular day, I returned to my car after conducting my transactions inside the bank only to find that whoever pulled out of the diagonal parking spot next to mine left nasty scratches and dents on the side of my new car.
I went back inside the branch and asked Mohammad about the surveillance tape. After telling him what happened to my car he immediately went outside with me to see for himself. He then related my mishap to Nicholas Mandrides, the assistant vice president branch manager. Both of them were very helpful in looking up a non-emergency police number for me to call.
But the helpfulness didn't stop there. Mohammad not only let me use his phone, he insisted that I sit down at his desk despite the fact that it would take a while to get hold of the police, let my boss know I'd be late, and to let the insurance company know what happened. While I was on the phone Mohammad anticipated my needs, bringing me a pen and paper, and a business card with the bank address on it. I felt bad about keeping him away from his desk for at least half an hour but he never tried to rush me.
The next day Mohammad called to say that unfortunately the surveillance tape didn't show the creep who wrecked my car (not his words!). Although this wasn't great news, since it meant I'd have to pay the insurance deductible while getting repairs, I was heartened with the empathy he showed me.
So even though this story isn't about the banking experience per se, it does illustrate how important customer service is-not only will the customer keep coming back but the customer will even work for free as a publicist for the company. Thank you Mohammad Shatnawi!

Anne's story...
I have self-published a book about my clinic, the Queen Street Clinic (web site of clinic) www.queenstreetclinic.com
I wanted to let Burke and Herbert Bank and Trust know that I have devoted a section in my acknowledgements to Burke and Herbert Bank and Trust as well as Cris Ford and Taylor Burke for believing in my dream. They looked at the building and Taylor said...Give her the loan and from there my story begins.. My loan was approved, when other banks turned me down, and allowed me to buy the building that houses the clinic in June of 2001.
To get a copy or read about the book...go to www.authorhouse.com and go to book store and put in my name: Anne Boston Parish or "Confronting America's Health Care Crisis"
I really beleive the story, I have written, would give more community businesses a positive outlook to overcome the challenges and go after their dream. However, I could not have done it without Burke and Herbert Bank and Trust. I think it would be a wonderful book for start up businesses and a protoype for getting people to think outside of the box...I had to think outside of the box and look at what I have done...
Dreams do come true...sometimes they are just larger than life...and Burke and Herbert Bank helped my dream come true...

Chad's Story...
A year before I graduated from college I was assaulted and had my jaw broken. While I was not responsible for the medical bills, they were in my name and did serious damage to my credit while litigation was pending.
After I graduated from college and came back to Northern Virginia, I was looking to open a bank account, but none of the "major commercial banks" would allow me to open a checking account with them because of my credit status.
Burke and Herbert allowed me to open a checking account on the spot, and never had a problem with my personal credit situation.
Now, sometimes I have to go cash my paycheck at one of those local "major commercial banks", when they cash my check, they ask me if I would like to open an account with them. I usually respond with something along the lines of "Where were you 6 years ago?" Then I proceed to tell them how happy I am with Burke and Herbert (I always mention you by name.) I am very appreciative of Burke and Herbert, and glad to be a part of their family. Thank you for everything that you do.

Elise's Story...
This is such a nice feature! I so enjoy the other stories. Here's my mother's story. Eliz Hume Hill was born in Alexandria, VA in 1911. Her grandfather, Frank Hume, fought in the Civil War and was a main proponent of the construction of Memorial Bridge, a benefactor of UVA &Member of the VA legislature. He opened his account at Burke and Herbert way back when after the Civil War. Her father banked at Burke & H and Mother opened her account in 1965. Once in 1978 she found a terrific station wagon: a Ford Country Squire. It cost $10,000. She called David Burke and he wired the money immediately to New Hampshire so she could buy the car. Burke and Herbert now handles her trust account. We couldn't be more delighted. Mother always refused to change banks even though she has lived for a long time in Washington and in Baltimore and in Berlin, Germany.

Carol's Story
I today closed the two accounts that I had with Burke & Herbert and wanted to let you know that the ONLY reason for doing so was that I'll be leaving the area for Arizona the end of the month. The service has always been superior. My frame of reference is having had accounts in Springfield and Boston, Massachusetts; Rochester, NY; Baltimore, MD; and several banks in the Washington area. Burke & Herbert is the only one that came close to my experiences in Springfield ... and the president of that bank employed my mother in other of his business interests for years and the officers knew me from before I was the proverbial gleam! I can only hope that I can find a bank in my new location that does half as good.

Connie's Story...
I moved here from Queens, NY, and I started banking with Burke & Herbert in 1978. All the employees are so professional and helpful. It is really nice to bank where the tellers always greet you with a smile and are willing to help. I talk about Burke & Herbert Bank so much my family and friends started banking there. I promote my bank to coworkers and now they are leaving their banks to join our special Burke & Herbert Bank -- the oldest and the most personal bank in Alexandria, VA. If you want great banking services I suggest you join our family at Burke & Herbet. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Val's story...
Our company has many accounts with Burke and Herbert and I make several deposits per week into a large majority of these accounts. I am usually too busy during the day to be able to run out to make a deposit, but the Burke and Herbert Franconia Branch is on my way home, and they have a drive-thru. The two ladies that wait on me are absolutely outstanding! I come in after 5pm and I have quite a few deposits to make. They split the deposits between the two of them to speed up the process so that I can be on my way quickly and they are always bright and cheery! You can tell when someone is faking a smile, and they are not faking. I can tell that they truly wish to help the customer. It is easy to write a complaint letter, but not enough people write when they receive excellent service. In this day and age where customer service is a dying art, it is good to see someone who cares. These ladies deserve a pat on the back for a job well done!

Jody's story...
I'm a Burke and Herbert customer and also an employee of the Bank. I just wanted to write in that my Mother and Dad met in 1949 and married there soon after. They opened their checking account that same year at Burke and Herbert and have been loyal customers ever since and wouldn't dream of putting their money anywhere else. I thought it would be kind of neat to work at a place where my Mom and Dad began their life together as husband and wife. They have been a part of the bank for 58 years. Unfortunately we lost my Dad 3 years ago but my Mother refuses to take his name off her checks. His name lives on and forever will in my heart!

Lee's story...
For the last 20 or so years, I have been a Burke and Herbert customer. Shannon Catlett, our manager at the Monroe Street branch, really makes banking the way it should be. She is helpful, direct and funny. She is very knowledgeable and always has an answer or gets the answer in short order. Where do you find these great people? Thanks Burke and Herbert and thank you Shannon Catlett for being my banker and treating me like a real friend. You're the best.
Thanks,
Customer Lee Nocera
C.J.'s story...
I feel Shannon Catlett is the personal banker and financial advisor for all the members of the Reid family. A quick call and Shannon makes it happen. I can't believe it took so long for us to move from a "nationally" recognized bank which does not provide true customer service, to a local bank that redefines the meaning. I have no doubt that service is as great at all of the other branches, but I feel really welcomed at the Monroe Street Branch in Del Ray. Burke and Herbert has taken banking to a whole new positive and proactive level. When you bank with Burke and Herbert, you are banking with a great family.
Thanks,
Customer C.J. Reid
Annmarie's story...
Burke and Herbert has been my bank as long as I can remember. We
primarly bank at the Telegraph Road branch, where the tellers are
amazing, remember me all the time, and always go out of their way to
assist me in my banking needs. Whether I'm flush with cash or
struggling to make it from one paycheck to the next, Burke and Herbert
treats me the same: like I'm their only customer and a millionaire!
Thank you.

Tina's story...
My mother, Sarah "Betty" Delp, (now passed, was a Burke and Herbert 'family member') encouraged me to get my first checking account with Burke and Herbert. For a span of years I had to bank outside of Burke and Herbert due to living outside of the United States and needed to utilize the military banking facilities. Burke and Herbert has always been there looking out for it's customers to have a lasting prosperous relationship, versus capitalizing on their clients errors and not "taking them to the bank" as the old saying goes. That's why I referred to Burke and Herbert in my first sentence as a 'family' — you’re not just a customer. Thank you for what you do, please don't change a thing with regards to your customer care.

Rose's story...
When I first moved to Alexandria in 1980, as a young adult without a car, I looked for a convenient bank on my bus route. I first went to a bank (whose name/affiliation has changed several times since then). During the process to open a checking account I was asked to supply a VA driver's license. When I explained that I didn't yet have a VA license because I didn't yet have a car, but I could show an Arizona driver's license, the bank employee got suspicious and asked why I wanted a checking account. (!) I had to explain that rent and other expenses required checks, but she still looked confused and sought a supervisor's help. At the back of the room I saw the supervisor shake his head and laugh. She came back with the denial.
Mortified, I walked to the next nearest bank, the Monroe Avenue branch of Burke and Herbert. Almost in tears I timidly inquired about the possibility of opening a checking account. The employee asked why I was upset and I explained the jarring experience of a few minutes earlier. Dismissively, she said, "Well you're here now." She may as well have said, "You're home now."

Eddie's story...
I am telling the story, but this is more a story of/for my wife.
I am a former Marine and have traveled the world and therefore experienced much of the woes of national and international banking.
My lovely wife (an accountant) manages our books as well as those of many Associations located in and around Northern VA. My wife demands accountability, accountability of fund and accountability of service.
I am a Network Engineer and a fairly technical person. I like high tech, immediate access of funds and information. I have on many occasions attempted to move my wife to a newer more high tech bank. She will not budge!
She has in turn convinced me that Burke and Herbert is, and has been for over 150 years, the best bank for the people, providing the best service of any bank of any size or global presence.
The woman who manages money for a living loves Burke and Herbert and is not afraid to repeat that whenever a business asks for a banking referral.Thank you Hunt Burke, to you, your family and the company that you serve.
Semper Fidelis et Paratus!
Always faithful and Prepared!

Diana's story...
I am an Executive Assistant for two businesses -- both of these businesses have their accounts at B&H. I make the deposits for them by putting the money in the night deposit.
One evening, I did just that. I went over to the bank on Franconia Road in Alexandria, VA. I put the envelopes in the night deposit but it did not rotate. I tried several times but was not able to make it go down. The money was just sitting there and I could not get my hand in to get it out. It just happens that one of the ladies who work at that branch goes to our church. I drove back to the church and she helped me get in touch with Barbara Cupp who is the manager of the Franconia branch.
Now this was a Sunday afternoon at dinner time but when I spoke with Barbara she immediately said that she would meet me at the bank in just a few minutes. She did just that. She met me there not five minutes after a called. She worked with the deposit box but could not get it to rotate so she called security.
He had to come from Mt. Vernon so it took him a while to get here. Barbara offered to stay with the money until he got here and said I could go home. I chose not to leave until the money was safely in the bank so instead of going home, Barbara stayed with me at the bank for almost an hour. The security man came and he and Barbara were able to get the money safely in the bank. Barbara Cupp, in my opinion, went above and beyond. This is not the first time she has left an impression. She is an excellent people person and she knows her business.
Burke & Herbert, in my opinion, has a fantastic employee in Barbara Cupp. Every branch should have a Barbara Cupp working there. Thank you for listening and I hope you will express my appreciation to Barbara for all that she does.

John's story...
All I needed was a truck loan to start a small business in Alexandria. Not from this area I would fly in & visit the banks of Old Town, many rejections later, from banks that (ha-ha) don't seem to be around anymore I'd worked my way to King & Fairfax. Sitting on the bench waiting to see another loan officer I was not optimistic. Once in Taylor Burkes office he listened to my needs, actually asked questions about my business & informed me over a handshake that we had a deal. Twenty years later its still a small business in Alexandria & Burke & Herbert is still my bank for everything. I don't see Taylor much anymore but with Hunt on occasion the old days will come up, a handshake & smile later I feel like a millionaire.
Thank you Burke & Herbert.

Suzanne's story...
Back when I was a college student, I lived in Crystal City in South Arlington and opened an account at Burke and Herbert at that branch. Soon thereafter I moved to North Arlington and decided to change banks for convenience.
I opened the new account with a bank cashiers check from Burke and Herbert. Unbeknownst to me, that bank put a 14 day hold on the cashier's check drawn on Burke and Herbert right across town! The checks that I had written to the college book store, along with my first rent check at my new apartment bounced! When I attempted to speak with the branch manager at the new bank, she said that it was bank policy to put 14 day holds on cashier's checks and that there was nothing she could do.
I promptly withdrew my money and returned to Burke and Herbert. When I told the people at Burke and Herbert what had happened, they offered to write letters for me to the college and to my landlord, even though they had nothing to do with it!!
I will never forget this. It is because of this that I have had my account at Burke and Herbert for over 25 years, even during the 10 year period that I lived in southern Maryland and still have it now where I reside in Warrenton, VA. The service at Burke and Herbert cannot be compared to any other bank, which is why I will never move my bank account.

Martin's story...
I have banked at Burke & Herbert since I was a child and my parents before me. The Burkes knew my family by name and as friends for the many years my family have been customers at Burke & Herbert.
The service provided and the individual attention given to my family has been unmatched by any other financial institution I have ever dealt with. Even after moving from the area I continue to use Burke & Herbert as my choice for
banking. Thanks from the entire family for making banking at Burke & Herbert the pleasure it is.

I opened my business account in 1998 at the suggestion of a friend. It was the best decision!
The customer service has been EXCELLENT!! Mr. Nwaka Mogekwu, Mr. Habibbi and the staff have always been very helpful and friendly. It's comforting to know that when I call I can speak to the same person. I don't have to worry that my banker has moved to another branch OR another bank. This is banking like it used to be. I can have a relationship with my banker. I have enjoyed my banking relationship with Burke and Herbert and have recommended MY bank to others who agree that B & H is a great place to bank!

Miriam's Story About James Click, Jr.
Some months ago I had occasion to visit with James Click, Jr. at the Bethel Cemetery and found his involvements with motorcycles interesting. With some details he offered, I wrote the attached essay. As indicated in the text he received a loan at age 16 from your branch bank at Monroe and Mt. Vernon Avenues. I thought you might enjoy knowing about this "well-placed loan."
James tells me he still does business at the branch.
My deceased husband and I have enjoyed using your Fairlington branch for many years now, as well. We think well of your services and often recommend it to others. It is heartwarming to observe our Burke & Herbert Bank thrive, branch-out, and continue to serve Alexandria and other areas as well. Customer Miriam Newman Wiener
A Well-Placed Loan By Miriam Newman WienerThe late Joseph M. Campbell, writer and educator, urged his readers and students to find their "bliss" and pursue it forever in earnest. James Click, Jr. does this even into his middle years. At age six he found delight in a runabout vehicle called "big wheels" which could pilot him indoors or outside his home. Wheels proved to be his "bliss" from those days forward. At age nine, James borrowed a motorcycle from his cousin, a Honda 125, and the excitement of his first ride was only dampened when he ran into the side of a house - James forgot to garner instructions as to how he might downshift the motorcycle and bring it to a halt.
At age 16 James and his father, James Click Sr. visited the Burke & Herbert Bank located at the corners of Monroe and Mt. Vernon Avenues in Alexandria, Virginia. A kindly man arranged a $1,000 loan in a few minutes. James, with some of his own savings, soon had his first bike, a Suzuki. Over many decades James has purchased, sold, and traded a variety of bikes - Harley-Davidsons, Yamahas, and even custom-made ones.
The Click family owns and maintains stewardship of the Bethel Cemetery in the Old Town section of Alexandria. When the elder Mr. Click was visited with arthritis and other medical issues, James Junior took over more of the many details needed in the care, etc. of the cemetery, along with meeting with families who needed to purchase a plot, negotiating sales, and arranging for graveside services when required. James can also order gravestones, if a client so desires. He is skilled at incising the stones with the usual dates of birth and death, the name of the deceased and any other sentiments suggested by the purchaser. James sometimes handles as many as six funerals a week at Bethel Cemetery.
When James finds a weekend or a day or two with no serious demands at the cemetery, he drives out into the far reaches of the Alexandria area, engages a rendezvous with one of his motorcycles and takes to the open road, ones which see little or not traffic.
Alone at last he is now a man and his machine. With the wind at his back, feeling occasional breezes, he can contemplate cloud formations and savor once again the welcome blue of the sky above. He leaves behind a harvest of memories, bereaving family members, solemn graveside services, the task of closing a grave after a loved one is lowered into his or her final resting place, observing mourners slowly leaving, some with a long last look backward to the scene.
More recently James revisited his "bliss" when he traded one of his motorcycles for a longed for Corvette. Motorists in this area need not expect to catch a glimpse of the driver in this car or on a motorcycle; James keeps his treasures out into the "hinterland" of our area, and as indicated before, meets his garaged vehicles there when he wants to enjoy a long ride.
Most days, however, you will find James at the cemetery attending to his many and varied duties. James spends many hours very much alone where he quietly moves among the hundreds of residents who arrived as deceased visitors and who will remain at Bethel, resting in peace, under the diligent care of James Click, Jr.

Lauren's Story...
Recently a customer commented to me that the employees at Burke & Herbert Bank made our customers feel as if they are family, and asked how this was possible. I answered that the employees feel like a family, and so it was only natural to extend this to our customers! After speaking to this customer about Burke & Herbert Bank and all of the wonderful stories we have, I realized that I have my own!
It began in the summer of 2005; I needed a new job since the jewelry store I was employed at had closed. My stepmother, Sonia Elfstrom, told me that Burke & Herbert Bank, where she had been working at for 10 years, were hiring tellers. I wasn't sure about working in a bank, I had no experience, but I needed a job. Sonia arranged for me to take my Tellers' Test and interview for a position. Afterward she introduced me to all of her coworkers, some I had met before over the years and some I hadn't. A particular employee I met was Dan Convery, a Customer Service Representative with an amazing smile! I was soon hired as a teller at the Falls Church Branch; at the same time I had begun to date Dan. Soon after, we were married and had a beautiful baby girl named Gabrielle! Over the years Dan and I had been promoted and transferred to several branches. At present he is the Assistant Manager at the Main Office and I am the Assistant Manager at the Landmark Branch.
Last year my little sister, Chelsea Elfstrom, was looking for a job and applied as a teller. At the same time my father in law, Danny Convery, had realized that retirement didn't agree with him and also applied for a job. Happily on December 8, 2008, they both began their jobs, Chelsea is a teller at the King and Washington Branch and Danny is the Collections Specialist at our Operations Center.
I am so thankful for my job and now could not imagine doing anything else! What a wonderful place to work, I am so grateful not only for my family that I work with, but for all of my other incredible coworkers! How lucky am I? I love the people I work with and work with the people I love! And I am not the only one, there are so many families working in the bank, obviously the Burke's, also the Collum's, Ford's, Giles', Michael's, Udvari's, and many more! This is how we are able to make our customers feel like family, welcome and appreciated, because we are a family!

Jeff's story...
Burke and Herbert is my neighborhood bank--and I haven't lived in the neighborhood for almost 20 years!
When I first moved to the Mt. Vernon area in 1979, my family decided to bank at First Virginia. When I got my first job at Hechinger's and needed to open an account of my own, I followed suit. A couple of years later, ATMs were introduced, and I liked the idea of instant account access, so I moved my account to First American. It wasn't until I was talking with a friend one day that I heard about Burke and Herbert. I needed a checking account, and B&H came highly recommended by my friend. Her dad had been banking there for many years. So I followed her advice and visited the Cooper Road branch to open my new account. I wasn't aware at the time that I wouldn't be living in Mt. Vernon for much longer.
About a year later, I had enlisted in the Air Force and shipped out for training in Texas. A few months after that, following a short visit to Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, I wound up at Langely AFB in Hampton, VA. During an inprocessing briefing there, the financial officer recommended that we hold onto accounts at banks we trusted, if we already had them established. Wiser words were never spoken! I kept my "Burke account" and made use of it throughout my enlistment, taking advantage of direct deposit to shorten the distances involved.
After leaving the Air Force, I returned to the Mt. Vernon area and was soon married. Remember that friend who recommended Burke and Herbert? You guessed it--she's my wife now. Anyway, we did our wedding planning and management through another B&H account.
After getting married, we moved into an apartment in Centreville. Even though there was no branch "way out there" in 1990, we stayed at Burke for our primary accounts. With parents still near Cooper Road, weekends always provided opportunities to take deposits "home". We eventually moved to Manassas, where we've lived for the last 16 years. I used to work in Tyson's Corner, so typically wound up going to the Falls Church branch during lunch, or the Smoketown branch (once it opened) on Saturdays. I've used other banks for ATM convenience accounts, but we've never considered moving away from Burke and Herbert.
I'm amused now when I go back to Mt. Vernon--there's no First Virginia, no First American, and no Hechinger; lots of things have changed. But Burke and Herbert still serves us on Cooper Road, and my direct deposits still go there twice a month. (And I'm still married to that friend!)
Now, if you'd just consider opening a branch in western Prince William County...
